Easy ways to improve your eyesight
As time passes by and you get older, your organs and your body, in general, aren’t working as good as they once did. And, a lot of us, millennials might start to experience the first sign that we’re getting old, the eyesight. This is the first thing that most people notice failing. As you get older and older, you stop seeing things as clear as you once did, and a lot of us turn to see aid such as glasses. But, if you want to stop the degradation of your eyesight and start restoring it, then you can try a couple of things that might help you improve it, and maybe get it back to normal!
Create a better diet
A lot of our parents made us eat carrots by telling us that we will see better if we consume more carrots. And, despite the fact that there isn’t a food that will give you night vision, there are foods that can help you improve your vision. This is because of the fact that many foods contain nutrients that can benefit our eyesight a lot and help us improve it.
Broccoli and eggs, for example, have lutein and zeaxanthin and these two nutrients have the ability to improve the pigment density in our eyes. And, that’s not the only benefit that they give us. In fact, the lutein and zeaxanthin protect the macula, and they also make it easier for our eyes when receiving UV light. There are other foods that have lots of benefits for our eyes and spinach, strawberries and the food that almost everybody knows that’s good for our eyes, the carrots. These foods are an excellent choice in your diet because of the fact that they can prevent the onset of macular degeneration.
Your waistline is not the only thing that benefits from good exercise! The more you exercise, and the better the activities are the bigger the chances of getting problems with your vision. This comes because of the fact that the more you exercise, the more you decrease the chances of developing type 2 diabetes. And, as you’ve probably heard before, this disease can wreak havoc with your eyesight.
The people that have type 2 diabetes might also develop diabetic retinopathy because of the depleted blood vessels. And, the sugar that is located in your bloodstream depletes the walls of the retinal arteries which in term causes them to leak. And, as you’ve probably guessed it, it’s not as easy to see with blood and fluid into your eyes.
The 20m-20s-20f rule
Tech is great and all, and it has done lots of amazing things for humanity. It has made our lives easier and much more efficient, increasing the ways that we can entertain ourselves. But, on the other side, we know that there is a fair share of downsides to using tech. And, one of those downsides is the impact that all that screen-time has on our eyes. When you are spending a lot of time in front of the computer or whatever screen you are staring at, you are bound to develop some kind of condition. And here’s where the 20m-20s-20f rule comes into play.
You should spend 20 seconds looking 20 feet away for every 20 minutes you spend in front of a screen. This will help you rest your eyes and decrease the chances of developing some kind of a problem.
Protection for your eyes
Nobody seems to think that they could use some eye protection in certain situations, but, everybody can see benefits from this. There are many situations in which you should wear some eye protection when you’re outside walking for example. But, make sure that you have the proper protection for your eyes all the time. Sunglasses are not there to protect your eyes from the sun, and they also play a role in protecting your vision!
By wearing them as often as you can, you will be able to decrease the chances of getting some problems such as cataracts and pterygium. This is happening because of the protection that sunglasses have against UVA and UVB radiation which in term can be pretty dangerous for your eyesight.
Don’t postpone this and protect your eyes as soon as possible. The more you protect your eyes now, the better your vision will be down the road!
