Is taking a nap in the middle of the day a good idea?

Who doesn’t love a good nap? I know I do! For the ones of us that don’t have a healthy sleeping pattern, a nap in the middle of the day can go a long way! And for those of us that can’t seem to get enough sleep, it is more than enticing to take a nap.

And even if you feel like the only way possible for you to get a decent rest is with a nap, it might be doing you more harm than good. Namely, if you are suffering from insomnia then you might be further disrupting your sleeping cycle because even without the nap you might be facing some problems when trying to fall asleep at night. So even if a nap seems to be the only option, don’t do it and try to fall asleep at night!

For the People Who Sleep Normally

A couple of years back, scientists conveyed a study about how a 45-minute nap would affect people who are sleeping normally. The study showed that a quick nap can improve your immune system as well as have a great impact on your memory and blood pressure. It is also great for people who are working third shift and cannot sleep at night because of their work. So this includes paramedics, policemen, pilots, and many more people. So if you feel like napping and have a normal sleeping cycle go for it.

For the People Who Sleep Poorly

For those of you who have poor sleeping cycles, on the other hand, napping can be further damaging your sleeping cycle. So Try falling asleep at night and avoid taking even short naps throughout the day. If you’re suffering any sleeping problems the nap will only make it worse for you. It won’t repair anything.

For the People Suffering From Sleep Apnea

If you constantly find yourselves having trouble waking up in the morning, and if you feel tired despite the fact that you slept well and don’t feel any problems when trying to fall asleep. You might be suffering from a sleeping problem that is completely opposite of insomnia. And it might even result in a problem like Sleep Apnea, this is a health problem where you stop breathing while sleeping. Having naps and falling asleep at lunch will not help you battle this problem.

You feel tired simply because you simply don’t get as much oxygen as your body needs while sleeping. If you feel like this and think that this might be the reason why then we would advise you to go check a doctor immediately. Talk to an expert and figure out what to do next. Sleep apnea is a condition that can be treated and there are tons of tools to help you eliminate this problem. You might be required to wear a positive airway pressure device which will help you regulate your breathing while you sleep, and this will help even if you stop breathing. And once you wake up, you are going to realize that you don’t really need to nap throughout the day.
