Nurse Donates Liver to a Boy who Desperately Needed a Transplant
When we think of people being kind or generous, we usually think of people sharing positive words or giving something small to help someone out. This is not your usual story of a person being kind. In fact, this is a story about a woman donating a part of her body to save the life of a little kid. Camie Loritz, couldn’t back out of giving her liver to and 8-year-old who desperately needed it.
Brayden Auten, who was enjoying his childhood and loved to wrestle, was the healthiest little boy you could know according to his mother.
When he came back home to Wisconsin from the state championship for wrestling a couple of weeks later, he started getting sick and felt pain in his stomach. His parents began to worry because he wouldn’t get better after giving him so medicine, so they rushed him to the hospital. After running a few tests, doctors told them that Brayden had a virus in his liver that was so serious that he would have to get a liver transplant.
His parents were devastated and started asking for help because none of Brayden’s relatives was a match. Even though it was a very serious and challenging time, Brayden wasn’t scared and fought like a hero. It was very important that they find a donor because Brayden didn’t have much time.
So word spread quickly around town, and a nurse from a different hospital by the name of Camie Loritz didn’t think twice and came immediately to the hospital that Brayden was at.
Brayden’s parents were relieved when the tests came back that said that Camie is a perfect match and the operation can be scheduled. The operation was a huge success, and both Camie and Brayden were healing amazingly. After the operation was over and both of them were feeling really amazing, Camie went to Brayden’s room and hugged him while he couldn’t stop thanking her for what she did for him. She said that it wasn’t an option to not help Brayden and let him pass away, he is so young, and he has his whole life ahead of him.
