The Netherlands Create Bee Bus Stops
We’re bombarded constantly that we should be taking care of the bees and saving them. And this is all happening with a good reason. Namely, these buzzing creatures actually are involved in the safety of our planet. They are keeping it green by pollinating the plants and filling our farms with crops. You could even say that they are keeping our planet spinning. If by any chance we lose a significant number of bees then that could be devastating for our planet. But, the Netherlands has taken these words to their hearts and they are working hard in order to aid bees. They decided to create the “Bees Bus Stops.”
Bees Might be Endangered
The scientists in the Netherlands believe that there are more than 350 species of bees that made this country their home. But, they also stated that there is a problem regarding a bigger number of those species. Namely, many of these bees species are an endangered species and are put on what the Netherlands authorities call “The Red List.” After these statements, the authorities decided that they needed to take some action in order to solve the bee problem, and that’s what they did!
What are the Bee Bus Stops
Nederland’s authorities have found a way which will help the bees increase their population and their idea includes something that you’ll never guess – Bus Stops. So, Nederland’s authorities have dotted 316 bee bus stops around cities such as Utrecht. These bus stops were made in a way that entices the bees to pollinate them, but these bus stops are also great for honeybees and bumblebees. They’ve topped more than 300 regular bus stops with greenery and flowery rooftops.
What can you do?
Yes, it might be one little step, but it surely goes in the right direction of saving a lot of bees. But, this means nothing in the bigger picture. There are tons of things that can be done to help save the bees. I hope that more countries and authorities will be willing to take this small step towards saving the bees because they will surely have tons of benefits from doing this. If you want to be connected to helping out the bees, then you can look for some kind of initiatives that are raising money in order to help bees. Or, if you don’t have a lot of money to spare, then you can plant more wildflowers and plants in your garden or in your backyard. And, before you say that this won’t do anything, remember that every little helps the bees!
